In a country of majestic palaces and charming chateaux, the Chateau of Versailles is the jewel in France’s historical crown. The primary residence of the Kings Louis XIV, XV and XVI, Versailles is a must-visit for anybody interested in the history, culture, art, architecture, fashion and horticulture of France.

Just half an hour from Paris, millions flock there to stand for hours in line in the palace courtyard, only then to be herded round the same stuffy and cramped rooms forced along by the crowd. Go with Richard to get off the tourist trail and explore the stunning Versailles gardens and fountains, Marie-Antoinette’s secret homes, playgrounds and theaters tucked away in the grounds, and visit parts of the main palace only a lucky handful of visitors ever get to see.

New for 2024, Richard is also offering behind the scenes tours inside the Palace of Versailles, where you see parts of the palace only seen by a couple of hundred visitors every day.
